Is there anything special or unique about our convoluted monetary system for purposes of a “state theory of money” inflationist scheme? Our current system seems to be created specifically to be purposefully obscure and boring to analyze. Do the “economics” of MMT actually change if the government were to just pass out or lend paper money that it printed up and there were no computers?
Their “theory” has always seemed to me to be nothing more than a gigantic wealth shifting scheme via Cantillon Effects, the more obscure the better (for them), with a hope and a prayer that the inflation it causes won’t upset the rabble too much.
