Yes, You Need to Choose Your Words Carefully When You’re Fighting Against an Evil Empire

Big Brother, Bundy Ranch, Conspiracy 48 Comments

As usual, people are misconstruing my remarks (while they get mad at me for not making sure others don’t misconstrue Cliven Bundy’s remarks). “I mean gosh Murphy, are you saying that it’s OK to shoot Cliven Bundy if he uses the wrong word?!”

No, I’m not saying that. But if you believe (as many of Bundy’s supporters do) that there is a group of people coordinating governments around the globe to usher in a New World Order etc. etc., then yes you have to choose your strategy and tactics wisely. I wasn’t saying Cliven Bundy was racist, I was saying he was reckless.

Remember this scene?

Hmm is Han Solo kow-towing to PC? Why didn’t he let those people know how much of a rat-fink the Emperor was?

This seemed like an obvious point to me.

  2. Major_Freedom says:

It is tragic that this obvious point has to be made.

  3. Bob Murphy says:

Right, and you two weren’t the ones lecturing me in the comments on the other thread. In case you didn’t notice, I was getting flak from both sides.

    • Dan says:

Yeah, I just meant that it seemed like an obvious point that would be hard to misconstrue, but this is the Internet. I almost brought up that I thought it was kind of funny that guys like Philippe were misconstruing your post as an attack on the NY Times, and the other side was misconstruing your point in the way you mention above.

    • guest says:

Why didn’t he let those people know how much of a rat-fink the Emperor was?

Because Han Solo, at this point, wasn’t trying to reason with them.

Remember that Ron Paul didn’t care how he sounded, and one was left thinking that either this guy is so obviously a nut job, or I’m maybe missing a little something.

  4. Dan says:

Also, I totally agree with you that Han Solo was a scruffy looking PC sell-out.

  5. Anonyblogger says:

First marketing wasn’t much. Now marketing deserves its own blog post.

Just ban the trolls. Saves everyone, including you, a lot of time and brain cells.

  6. Yancey Ward says:

Bundy has given them the ammunition himself, but it didn’t matter. It was only going to be a matter of time before the media was filled with stories about Bundy being some sort of heinous monster. He and his family are living on borrowed time.

  7. Bob Roddis says:

Mr. Bundy was quite reckless in challenging the allegedly illegitimate US Army to a fight. To clarify my position, I thought he was going to lose the PR battle due to those types of statements and the behavior of his supporters. I still assume the entire gang is going to prison forever. However, the “progressives”, having the PR upper hand, couldn’t contain their venom and perhaps snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by calling so many people related to the situation racist racist racist. That made Bundy a more sympathetic character.

  8. Bob Roddis says:

To further clarify my position, the most important thing is to change the attitudes of the American people and then to get them engaged in what is going. I’m not saying that’s even possible, but it sure is necessary and it has immediate results.

    • Bob Roddis says:

Typo: get them engaged in what is going ON.

    • joe says:

People know what is going ON. White, Christian males resent the federal govt because the federal govt is enacting policies that reduce inequality between white, Christian males and everyone else.

      • skylien says:

You are a racist according to your own definition.

      • skylien says:

And a sexist too and a “religionist” as well…

  9. Andrew' says:

Bundy has amended his comments in this breaking news exclusive:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3IfI08psmc

  10. joe says:

Bundy is a racist. Why pretend he is not?

He was being careful when he expressed his racist views. He tried to sound like he had compassion for blacks when he “wondered” whether they were better off as slaves.

    • Andrew' says:

I don’t know, why are you pretending to know he is a racist?

      • Andrew' says:

Everybody realizes how dumb you have to be to think Bundy is really proposing black people should be slaves again, right?

I mean, joe doesn’t realize, because I’d never say he is stupid.

        • Andrew' says:

The only reason he mentions black people is that they are the ones who appear to him to exhibit government dependence.

He is comparing welfare state unintended consequences to slavery and saying which is worse is an open question.

And too close for comfort, he may be right.

Who wants to lay odds with me at what Thomas Sowell or Walt Willims is typing as we…type?

          • Andrew' says:

            It is not complicated Joe.

For any number of reasons, blacks often tend to be among the poor.

It’s your job to make sure to put out propaganda that this is some vast right wing racist conspiracy.

Bundy is simply saying dependence on welfare is hurting some people he saw in a government housing project and “his heart goes out to them.”

The worst one can say according to what has been in the news is he is a “racialist” and news flash, there are things called races.

And this is within a context of where he is also welcoming to hispanics.

He was making an anti-racist speech…in his way.

            • Grane Peer says:

Andrew, this is not dinner for shmucks. Who do you intend to reason with someone who has ears but does does not hear, eyes but refuses to see, and a nose but can’t smell what he’s shoveling. Joe has no class and no desire to debate in a thoughtful manner.

              • Richie says:

Since this is a kindler, gentler New Blog Order, I have decided to refrain from responding to “joe”, a.k.a. “Jerry Wolfgang”, LK, Phillippe, etc. I’m turning over a new leaf.

        • joe says:

What are you babbling about here? It is clear that he is not supporting a repeal of the 13th Amendment. He did however suggest their lives would be better if they were enslaved and picking cotton. It’s a common argument made by enterprising black right wing pundits. Tom Sowell, Water Williams, Ben Carson have all said the same thing. Somehow to the weak mind it is not racist since a black person made the observation.

          • Andrew' says:

And that is why he is obviously not racist for saying those things.

Go ahead, Joe, try to explain either how the snippet he said proves he is racist or try to show other evidence that he is a racist.

            • Andrew' says:

You should have stuck with the NYT smear and let it go at that, Joe.

This isn’t going to work out for you in long-form.

            • joe says:

Andrew, what is wrong with you? You are posting and double posting trying to defend this blatantly racist idiot.

I did not even read the NY Times article. I listened to the unedited video and drew the most obvious conclusion from it.

He stereotyped blacks as lazy, unskilled and unproductive. That’s racism.

He “wondered” whether they would have a better life as slaves. That’s racism. It does not make it less racist because Tom Sowell or Walter Williams agree.

This is not ending well for you little guy. Go ahead and post 3 or four incoherent replies. You’re quite upset because this video made you take a look at yourself and you do not like what you see.

              • Andrew' says:

Nope. He is talking about what the incentives of welfare do and comparing that to life under slavery.

The reason he is referring to blacks is because they were under slavery.

              • Andrew' says:

                Joe,

I defend people who need defending.

“He “wondered” whether they would have a better life as slaves. That’s racism”

                No it’s not.

              • skylien says:

                joe,

So what you are actually saying here is that Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams are racist to black people?

      • joe says:

Hate to break it to you but we’re not living in libertyland where a person has to literally say “the white race is superior to the black race.” We’re living in the real world where you are a racist if you see black people and assume they are lazy, unproductive, unskilled quasi-humans who would be better off under slavery picking cotton.

        • joe says:

Hahahaahahaha……let’s pretend this is not blatant racism. Remember he is talking about complete strangers.

“They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom”

          • Andrew' says:

He specifically said that is because of government.

NOT a feature of their genetics.

            You lose.

            • Andrew' says:

              He didn’t even do that.

You are a liar, or misinformed.

I watched it again, and he was referring specifically to people he saw in front of government housing.

            • Andrew' says:

Next, do “racists” just assume blacks are lazy? Or do racists think their race is superior or something more reality-based?

He also compliments hispanics on their family life, even going so far as to say they are superior to whites.

I know that even that in your PC handbook is racist because he mentions race and is a Republican.

              But in reality it isn’t.

            • Andrew' says:

              You give up, Joe?

Or do you just want to keep pasting Bundy clearly stating that this is about welfare?

          • Major_Freedom says:

Ergo all your arguments are false.

        • Major_Freedom says:

We don’t live in a world where you actually engage the responses you receive

  11. Bob Murphy says:

Andrew’ and joe, calling each other “stupid” etc. is not what I had in mind for kinder, gentler comments section. It’s not convenient on WordPress for me to delete 10 comments from a thread, so please chill out.

    • Andrew' says:

      Bob,

Remember what I said before about punishing the bullied for defending themselves.

      But hey, it’s your blog.

      • Bob Murphy says:

Andrew’, if you’re announcing beforehand that anytime someone calls a public figure a racist etc., that you are going to have a 30-comment brawl with the person, then you should just leave now. Save us both frustration.

      • Andrew' says:

A kinder, gentler blog is one where joe isn’t allowed to smear and slander people (e.g. Ron Paul, Gary North, you, me, and that’s just off the top of my head from the last few weeks I’ve been frequenting here) and then just leave his crap undefended.

As you know, I’m not for banning as long as people like me can skewer people like joe.

We don’t have to solve it today…as you also know, I believe it is a software issue and will eventually be solved by software.

You hear that joe? Once we get past 10 comments it is game on!

        Just kidding Bob!

        • Bob Murphy says:

Right, Andrew’, but look what I’m saying: If joe says something over the line, and nobody answers him, then when I take a break from my “real job” and check the site, I have to delete one comment from joe.

But if I log in and you and joe have just had the gunfight at OK Corral, then I have to delete 30 comments, and it’s a pain the way WordPress is set up right now.

  12. Tel says:

As the Mossad put it, “By Way Of Deception, Thou Shalt Do War.”

Under Shi’a Islam they have taqiyya, which is basically pretending to be something you are not. The Druze have a similar concept.

“All warfare is based on deception.”
    ― Sun Tzu

Let me make it clear, this works both ways. Once you practice deception, you have picked up a weapon, you are no longer a pacifist.

  13. Philippe says:

    Bob Murphy,

I don’t really get what you’re trying to say in this post.

“Yes, You Need to Choose Your Words Carefully When You’re Fighting Against an Evil Empire…

…if you believe (as many of Bundy’s supporters do) that there is a group of people coordinating governments around the globe to usher in a New World Order etc. etc., then yes you have to choose your strategy and tactics wisely. I wasn’t saying Cliven Bundy was racist, I was saying he was reckless.”

Do you also believe in the New World Order conspiracy theory?

If not, why do you think Bundy was being reckless?

    • Dan says:

“I don’t really get what you’re trying to say in this post.”

If you don’t get it by now, after multiple posts and follow-up comments from him, it seems your destined to never understand his point. It’s ok, though, because it wasn’t directed towards you, anyways.

      • Philippe says:

My comment wasn’t directed towards you, Dan. It was a question for Bob.

This post appears to suggest that Bob may also believe in the NWO conspiracy theory. If he doesn’t, then he could just reply “no I don’t”.

        • Bob Murphy says:

Philippe, I structured this post to respond to people who (a) have a very cynical worldview and yet (b) get huffy when I suggested that Bundy is on thin ice.

I have said repeatedly and explicitly that I think the government would kill Bundy if they could get away with it. So him offering his opinion on “the Negro” is an unforced error.

Do I believe in a “NWO conspiracy”? Well, George Bush Sr. explicitly said there is a NWO, so that’s not a conspiracy theory in the pejorative sense. There are secret meetings of bankers etc. That’s not a conspiracy theory.

But I don’t necessarily subscribe to all the stuff that comes out of that train of thought.
