==> Peter Klein interviewed in South Africa.

==> I respond to Noah Smith on Friedman’s “plucking model.”

==> At first I thought this was a parody, but AOC actually urged workers to be sure they got paid for an extra hour for Daylight Saving. However, in context, I actually don’t think she said anything dumb.

==> My interview on the Theocracy podcast, talking about my conversion from atheism and reconciling the Bible with standard libertarianism.

==> I don’t like all these “cancel old stuff that is now evil” examples, but I actually agreed with this critique of Friends.

I’m looking forward to listening to that Theocracy episode. Personally, I’d like to hear more episodes dedicated to the “Christian” part your show intro bio but I may be in the minority.

P.S., Any word on when Tom’s free “AOC is right about Daylight Saving” ebook is going to drop? aocisright.com doesn’t appear to be active yet.

I listened to the Theocracy episode and found it interesting. I found it difficult to judge the things the host was saying, which made it a little confusing but thought-provoking nonetheless. I got the feeling that you, Bob, were kind of in the same boat as me. For example, after listening to the show I can’t say for certain where the host of the program stands on stoning disobedient children, which left me a little uneasy.

Anyway, I was still curious so I tried to check out Theocracy’s other episodes. On the feed I found, it looks like the newest one is 4 months old and I don’t see that his interview with you has been added yet. Do you know if the show is still active and, if so, what feed should I use to get it?

Thanks Bob! More Christian episodes please!

The plucking model is obviously consistent with ABCT (the most notable example is the great depressions and great recoveries in Eastern Europe following the fall of socialism, which were not preceded by fast growth beforehand). However, most recessions really are better explained by the standard story of tight monetary policy, rather than ABCT.

Also, I got banned from Scott Sumner’s blog for using inappropriate language when calling out Sumner’s hypocrisy for not criticizing Barack Obama doing the exact same congratulatory statement on the anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China as Donald Trump did.

Re: Friends, it might be worth considering its eventual successor in the category of long-running, uber-popular, laugh-track enabled sitcoms… the Big Bang Theory.

Which, admittedly, traffics in more than its fair share of low-effort nerd-related stereotypes… but ultimately, at the end of the day, delivers an overwhelmingly pro-nerd message that essentially says “Nerds deserve not only our respect, but also our friendship and love (and attractive women should want to have sex with them)”

The REAL question is whether zombies get paid that hour. Asking for a friend…

  6. Tel says:

Who is up for a small wager on whether AOC is equally concerned about shift workers making sure they get paid one hour less when Daylight Saving comes to an end?

I mean, the importance of accurate accounting and making sure everyone gets exactly what they are entitled to is what motivates her, right?

I couldn’t resist posting this. Heh! Heh!

If it hasn’t gone viral already then it should.
