John Oliver on Third Party Candidates

Humor, Politics 13 Comments

I had never heard Johnson talk about Mt. Everest like this before, and I didn’t know Jill Stein had dropped a dope album back in the day.

This video made me like Johnson slightly less, like Stein a lot more, and like John Oliver slightly less. Oh and the tiger guy is a riot.

P.S. If you’re short on time, just watch it from 5:00 for a minute, you’ll see why.

(Thanks to Bob Roddis for the video.)

I agree with your take on Johnson/Stein here. What made you like John Oliver slightly less though? I thought this was a pretty good video overall, especially compared to most of his other stuff (especially the one on charter schools). I wasn’t aware of the mountain thing either.

I couldn’t really take John Oliver seriously when he lectured Jill Stein about quantitative easing. I was surprised by what a yes-man he was, overall.

      • Reece says:

Oh yeah, that’s fair. The lecturing seems pretty typical of a lot of the comedy talk show hosts.

      • DesolationJones says:

Did he get anything particularly wrong about quantitative easing?

        • Craw says:

She said that it would cancel student debt. Huh? Maybe if you hyperinflate it would have a similar effect, plus a few deleterious side effects, but it’s not the same thing at all. It’s incoherent.

    • Dan says:

He was pretty obnoxious talking down to Stein as if he actually understands monetary policy when it’s clear he is completely ignorant about it.

  2. Jim says:

I couldn’t like John Oliver less.

I can’t believe you wanted people to skip the Joe Exotic part.

  4. Levi Russell says:

Wow, I knew Oliver was a pompous ass, but I didn’t know he was that bad.

I agree, Jill Stein is much better than I previously thought… and Gary is a jerk.

    • Craw says:

The only way Oliver could be more pompous is if he broadcast from a satellite campus.

      • Levi Russell says:

Well, unfortunately for my anonymous former interlocutor, I’m now in Conner Hall at UGA.

Seriously, isn’t it obvious that (((Oliver))), (((Stein))) and Johnson are all parts of the same machine? How hard do you have to be smacked in the face with a wet fish to get it. Garry is a CIA asset doing his job i.e. exploding libertarian party joke, because it could actually get some wind in sails this time with even remotely decent leader. They got scared of RP a bit. LP is probably half-staffed with tribe members/paid schills anyway at this point.

Just checked some of your latest postings and I do not understand why aren’t you campaining for Trump. You are so lucky to get him where he is now. I am seriously doubting your credntials as an analyst now. Look at Molyneux, he’s all in for 1,5 year now. It’s not like you’re going to have a second chance.
