==> No other economist comes up with stranger blog ideas than Nick Rowe.

==> These people are shameless.

==> Rob Bradley pushes back against climate alarmism. (If you’re thinking, “C’mon Murphy, who are these ‘alarmists’ you keep talking about?”–see the previous link.)

==> David Beckworth wants Congress to rein in the wild Fed (sort of).

    “These people are shameless”.

    The revealing comment was this one:

    “Our first response should be to understand this psychological tactic, so that we don’t allow them to win.”

    Projection much?

    -Holy crap, Bob, those were the exact words that came out of my mouth when I read that title.

    “Consequently, reducing the locations of oil and hydrocarbons, developing energy autonomy of each country through renewable energy, and fighting the omnipotence of oil producers will all help to reduce the power of the ISIS. ”

    -True, but oil accounts for less than a quarter of IS revenue (according to supposedly captured documents from Deir ez-Zor province) due to its sale of it below international market prices, and Turkey and the U.S. is at least as important to understanding IS’s rise as Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

    Fortunately, the comments are all right on target.

      I was good to see that the comments tended to be much more skeptical, although there were a fair number who seemed willing t carry water for her. But, then, what do you really expect from a European Union technocrat?

    As for Nick Rowe: I had a better idea: the government giving the market negative interest loans:

    At present, the biggest real-world equivalent to my proposal is Federal student loans, and these sure don’t have negative interest rates.

      Hey, I’ll bid higher, I’ll take a zero interest loan, especially if the repayment terms are 30 years or more.

    Remember “clock boy” Ahmed Mohamed?

    He’s looking for $21 million in damages, presumably his purpose is to repeatedly demonstrate the massive dissociation from realism in contemporary society, or else he’s an aspiring performance artist specializing in the grotesque. Either way, good to see how well immigrant families can embrace the great American tradition of making a buck by whatever means possible. Obviously more creative than people gave him credit for.

    See that clock? You didn’t build that.

    See this $21 million? I didn’t build that either!
