Tom Woods Takes Chicago By Storm
I have never heard Tom get as giddy about liberty as he does about Jethro Tull in the beginning of this clip:
Also Tom has some very nice remarks about the Murphy-Krugman Debate midway through. If you’ve never heard Tom talk about his naughty teen years, you might want to watch this one. He broke the law, for real.
I love Tom to death, but he really needs to get some new material! I feel like I’ve already heard all of these points and anecdotes and witticisms in previous videos.
Matt, last night Tom felt bad about how he always puts out the same (free) material. So he assembled a host of new lectures on US history from an Austro-libertarian perspective that I promise you’ve never seen at Mises U or on YouTube. Here is the link, act now!
WOW!
Logic, then Austrian theory, then US history, then Western history. This is my ideal syllabus.
Damn it! Why did Woods have to play into the fringe caricature by using the subtitle “The history and economics THEY DIDN’T TEACH YOU”? It makes an otherwise serious program sound a little hokey.
This IS history and economics!
Bob,
Your promise is somewhat accurate, but somewhat incorrect! I have seen these videos, as I am already a subscriber to Liberty Classroom! I decided long ago that I will throw money at whatever Tom Woods attaches his name to and never look back!
Thanks to your dumb old free market, I may not be able to order and receive a Jethro Tull songbook in a timely manner. This is why we need the federal and state governments. And need them BIG.

Matt, don’t forget, this is an informal talk in a bar. Also, when have I covered the revisionist history of Shays’ Rebellion?
Fair point! I suppose that part was in fact new. You’ll have to forgive me, I spent yesterday at work (government job) doing nothing but watching your videos, so I may have confused some of them together.
I actually do remember now that I went back and re-played the part about Shays Rebellion a few times, because one of my co-workers was bothering me during it and it didn’t have my full attention, but I felt it deserved it.
Criticism semi-retracted!
I wonder what my fellow thick-skinned Tom Woods would think or say if he was told that he:
“…works hard each day to prove that he’s the most tasteless, classless, moronic and petty human being every to walk on the face of the Earth.”
I initially chuckled, but I worry that maybe something more worrisome is afoot.
Holy sh*t.
Happy Sunday!
And I ain’t even mad.
Just this morning, I was thinking of posting how polite but firm and thorough Major Freedom’s posts are on the Sumner site. It is clear that Sumner does not understand Austrian concepts or analysis which is the real reason he will not engage MF directly on the merits in a polite but firm and thorough manner. Or even in a snarky manner. What else is new?
