Back in 1987, some of my fellow students and I decided to put on a “talent” show for one of our teachers/profs/tutors to celebrate her recent marriage. Dirty Dancing was recently released, and so we decided to make it a Dirty Dancing theme (without the “dirty” dancing, just the singing and dancing…I think).

Myself and this girl I had a crush on did the same song you did with Ms. Harris. But there was no camera, so the people who were laughing remains just a rumor. I am laughing right now, and that is not a rumor.

Laughing in a good way I mean.

This whole karaoke thing is getting out of hand. We really need to stage an intervention. Bob’s house, tomorrow at 8 pm everyone?

    • Joseph Fetz says:

He won’t be there, he’s on his karaoke tour.

      • Z says:

KARAOKE TOUR??!! He’s relapsed farther than I had thought.

    • Bob Murphy says:

I can stop whenever I want. I don’t have to answer to you people. Get out of my house!

Krugman admitted to making a mistake?

You can’t see it but I have my lighter flame-ed on. It’s to burn up cobwebs in my black powder magazine but you can claim it’s for you if you wa

Nobody puts Bobby in the corner!

  7. david nh says:

    Bob, have you gone primal?

    • Bob Murphy says:

David nh well I have been anti-carb for a few months and was going to the gym a lot for a while. But all Thanksgiving week my parents were in town, at which point Sisson’s book became a living document.

  8. Gene Callahan says:

Very nice performance, but although I’m not sure, it sounds to me like you and that lady are singing in unison — better than in disharmony to be sure! — and the gig would have been even better if you had been able to harmonize.

    • Joseph Fetz says:

That takes a lot of practice. I’m a pretty good singer in that I can usually sing in key if I have a reference (if I know the key, the root usually suffices), but I cannot harmonize very well at all. The whole synesthesia thing might be the culprit.

    • Bob Murphy says:

Gene I just do it all by ear. I don’t even really understand what it means for a song to be in one key vs. another.

      • Ken B says:

You probably just gave Fetz a heart attack.

        • Bob Murphy says:

Not at all Ken B. The more ignorant I am, the more Fetz can charge me for his audio work.

          • Ken B says:

Fetz works with explosives. Don’t get him excited!

            • Joseph Fetz says:

Why, hello DHS. How are you today?

Seriously, explosive demo is pretty rare. And after the incident in Springfield, even more so ….

*the ED was actually subbed out, but it was our project

            • Joseph Fetz says:

BTW, the project entailed far more than just the tower. We also abated the hazardous materials inside the power plant and then demo’d the entire plant.

  9. Ken B says:

Bob! You even sing like me!

You’ve lost weight from the vids from springtime.

  10. konst says:

wow I just watched this… uhm, I’m speechless. What do they say, it’s all good as long as you’re having fun. That sounds like a neutral thing to say right?

    • Bob Murphy says:

Not sure what you mean konst. If it matters, people in the bar, including the master of ceremonies, kept coming over to our table during the night and asking who we were. Granted, they were doing it to talk to her, not me, but this notion I’m getting from some people that this was painful to watch seems odd.

      • konst says:

I wouldn’t say it was painful to watch just that there is quite a difference between yours and her performance.
