Happy Jaded Valentine’s Day!

Humor 10 Comments

Having polite discussion with all of my brothers and sisters (well, brothers) on this post has put me in a joyous mood. Here are some fun songs to celebrate today.

This song sounds sweet, but the beginning is actually not.

Then just to make sure you know where they’re coming from, try this one.

And of course we can’t invoke the Beatles without this one. (You get what happens at the end, right?)

How do these jerk guys get away with it? I don’t know, but Pat Benatar celebrates being a doormat.

How about a chart-busting song about stalking?

Here’s another in the same genre.

And my all time favorite in this respect: You Can’t Change That. Just hit play and let this go in the background, while you do other stuff. I think you’ll find the direction of the song changes around 1:05.

Sometimes I send Prof. Murphy what I consider to be better versions of popular songs. Marie Osmond singing “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” is not one of them.

Somehow I think she missed the gist of the song.

I remember mentioning “The Toadies” in front of some very sweet/innocent female friends of mine in college. Their response, “Oh, I love them!” Pretty much the entire debut album is about stalking, raping, murdering women. Their videos included images of dead women lying in the woods, and being dragged out of a lake. They just thought their hit song was about a guy who wanted to make out with a girl by the lake. I suppose they changed the station before he asks, “Do you wanna die?” over and over again at the end of the song.

That reminds me the crowd’s jubilant reaction to Chris Brown at the Grammy’s.

Interesting choice for V-day – Rubber Soul’s where their music started to become less lovey-dubby, though it’s always been my favorite of their albums

I think “If You Won’t See Me” is still my favorite Beatles song.

MF how old are you, if you don’t mind me asking? (God wouldn’t tell me.)

Younger than what those videos would lead a reasonable person to believe.

This has nothing to do with Valentine’s Day, but Jimmy Fallon doing Jim Morrison doing the theme from “Reading Rainbow” is the better version.

    Good night, moon.
