This was very well-said for a black guy*:

* Oh come on, that was funny.

It was really good and I did laugh. Thanks.

It’s the best way of having a healthy argument: Send a silly question back. “When is Jewish history month?”

The same can be applied to economic discussions: “Who will build factories if you take money from the rich?”.

He could have told you all the reasons why he thought black history month was a bad idea but nobody would have listened and thought about it. That way, the other person is shocked into answering his own question directed back at him.
I find it’s the best way to politely argue with someone.

That question isn’t as silly as asking when is Jewish history month. Especially in a competitive market where lots of capital is needed to open a factory.

    That’s fantastic.

  4. JSR08 says:

This is great, but then later on (in another interview) he claims people like the tea party folks oppose Obama primarily because he is black. Very disappointing.

The fact that Morgan freeman says “the tea party opposes Obama because he is black ……….is not a contradiction on Freeman’s part ….
Morgan freeman is pointing out the tea party’s reasons for why they do what they do……..and not MR Freeman’s personal point of view on wether or not to call people white ,black or whatever

Wow, I would love to see this one go viral. 🙂

  6. Jason B says:

“What month is white history month?” Asks Freeman. Wallace responds, “I’m Jewish.” That might be the most cowardly response Mike Wallace could possibly give, and also the most ironic.

  7. Another Joe says:

Morgan Freeman gave the best answer to this question, other than the fact that there’s only one homo sapiens “race.” “Racism,” ethnic snobbery or prejudice, is propagated by repeating the same old mantra over and over again. I don’t owe you because of what my parents did to yours. And you don’t owe me because of what your parents did. We all come from the same origin, so just ignore the color and get over it. It’s the only way to level the field.

  8. C. Rakish Spagaletto says:

    Ron Paul:

“Racism is simply an ugly form of collectivism, the mindset that views humans strictly as members of groups rather than individuals. Racists believe that all individuals who share superficial physical characteristics are alike: as collectivists, racists think only in terms of groups. By encouraging Americans to adopt a group mentality, the advocates of so-called ‘diversity’ actually perpetuate racism. Their obsession with racial group identity is inherently racist…”

“…More importantly, in a free society every citizen gains a sense of himself as an individual, rather than developing a group or victim mentality. This leads to a sense of individual responsibility and personal pride, making skin color irrelevant. Rather than looking to government to correct our sins, we should understand that racism will endure until we stop thinking in terms of groups and begin thinking in terms of individual liberty.”

      Awesome RP quote!

It’s pretty fucking obvious that everyone here, especially Bob, is missing the point of this exchange.

Bob’s followers needn’t be too concerned: whatever the reason for his recent web difficulties, he most definitely will NOT be shut down by the State. Like Lew Rockwell, with enemies like this, the State doesn’t need friends.

Oh, and while I’m at it: anyone notice RP conceding the point in humiliating style re. his “notorious” newsletters from the 90’s (I still proudly have my physical copies, those were the days!). I know memories are in very short supply in America, but does the name James Watson ring a bell? Allow me to spell it out, since it’s clearly necessary: apologizing gets you nowhere, in fact is counterproductive and encourages more attacks, so don’t do it.

    • Bob Murphy says:

At least you’re not a hypocrite, Beefcake. I can’t imagine you ever apologize for anything.

      • Beefcake the Mighty says:

I should be more clear, Bob: never apologize for telling the truth. I do in fact apologize for being wrong, on those rare occasions.

Out of curiosity: do you thing RP was wrong in his comments re. the LA riots?

        • Bob Murphy says:

Beefcake I think me publicly talking to you about those newsletters would come back to haunt me if I ever ran for president.

          • Old Boy says:

Probably would bommerang even if the stakes were just in academe!

        • Beefcake the Mighty says:

I recall an old RRR where Rockwell correctly characterized MLK as a plaigarist and philanderer, who was in favor of forced integration and had communist sympathies. Unfortunately I no longer have the hard copy. Wonder what the younger gaggle of “Misesians” would say if they saw that!

  10. Old Boy says:

Every week’s Jewish history week! Hollywood’s favourite wise man should know that.
