Bill Clinton in 1995 = Donald Trump in 2015

Immigration 14 Comments

My dad sent me this. Now admittedly, Clinton didn’t say Mexico is sending us rapists and some of them were (he’s sure) good people, talk about moratorium on Muslims, etc. But it is remarkable how closely this fits what the standard Trump stance was, and how this was nothing shocking back then.

(Remember kids: I DO NOT LIKE DONALD TRUMP.)

https://youtu.be/Ezaw-g6TIQI Is this from 2008, what is another name for a physical barrier?

    • Harold says:

Physical barrier in some places if necessary. This is not the same as the wall.

If Trump is saying he will do same thing as the Clintons, Obama and indeed Bush, there seems no benefit in voting for Trump on this issue.

      • Andrew Keen says:

If two people claim they will do the same thing, side with the one who has the most credibility.

        • Harold says:

          Who would that be?

          • Andrew Keen says:

I was just making a general statement. Just because two people say they will do the same thing doesn’t mean that there is no benefit in voting for one over the other.

If the question is, “Which candidate is more likely to actually put a physical barrier along parts of the southern border?” well then I have my suspicions and you have yours.

        How weird is this getting?

      • Grane Peer says:

Harold, what distinction are you making? A segmented moat.

I completely agree that there is no benefit in voting for Trump on this issue but I don’t think we agree for the same reasons.

        • Harold says:

The distinction should be obvious. A gate across a single road could be physical barrier where necessary. That is different from the wall that Trump talks about.

It’s sad you have to pander to the PC totalitarians. They are incapable of intellectual curiosity.

    • Andrew Keen says:

How long before “intellectual curiosity” becomes a “code word” or “dog whistle” for “engaging in racist/sexist/homophobic/transphobic/islamophobic ideas?”

      • RL Styne says:

If DT wins the election, it won’t be long.

Translation: Clinton Democrats have taken over the damn Republican Party.

Putting someone in office who doesn’t prepare for the debate and then says the exact opposite of what his twitter feed says is insanity. But, my impression is that his supporters don’t pay attention to these details.
