Awkward

Obviously these politicians like to posture, but Gruber really served up a softball on this one.

Whew, that was tough to watch! I say a lot of stupid things to impress my peers. I would like to see economists come out against being impressed by stupid comments. Unfortunately, too many economists are.

Gruber obviously believed the things he was saying.

When he describes himself as “Not a politician” what that means is now and then he can’t keep up the usual level of bullshit that the rest of them can achieve.

I was disappointed that Gowdy failed to get Gruber to identify the class of people who were smart enough to understand him. Gruber’s statements always spoke of voters but voters have no direct say on legislation. Conversely, Gruber’s statements did not mention politicians of any political stripe, leaving us hanging as to whether it was just the Democrat politicians who fell for this equivocation and was he referring solely to the Republican politicians as the gnostics who could understand (and reject) his priestly pronouncements?

omg… This guy is such a pathetic coward and bad liar. He really doesn’t mean to excuse anything he said..

I mean I agree with Gruber that the average Joe is too “stupid” or rather use the term ignorant too understand many economic outcomes of many policies. That is in my view not the issue that is outrageous. The outrageous thing is that he intentionally abuses this fact to deceive those “stupid” voters, instead of trying to be transparent to make it as simple and easy to understand as possible what is happening if a his law is passed.

Probably fair to point out that British comedians fully understood both Gruber and Gowdy several decades ago.

“I didn’t mean…………..for this to have blown up the way it did.”

This a$$hole meant what he said.

Ignorant and innocent-idiocy card pulled, as if out of a hat.

The guy took a hit, but I’m sure that he’ll be compensated for it (if his past compensation is any measure).

I don’t know, he seemed like a testosterone-filled bull in his presentations, but here he seems like a little, scared dove.

I don’t buy it (but perhaps he did).
