Turning on the Bat Signal! Alert! Krugmaniacs Report to Battle Stations!

Krugman, Shameless Self-Promotion 19 Comments

OK kids, Dr. Paul Krugman is doing a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” live chat, right now (4:45 Eastern time). If you are so inclined, please up-vote this question where I ask him about my debate challenge. The more people who up-vote it, the higher it gets bumped in the queue, and he has to stare at it while fielding questions.

(Thanks to Matt Gilliland for helping with this stunt.)

    I down voted it.

  2. J. W. says:

Bob, could you please clear out the spam from the Murphy-Krugman Debate donation page? It makes it look, well, I was going to use the word “unprofessional” but then I had a flashback to a certain Youtube video about the debate. Never mind!

Anyway, good luck with the up votes.

I don’t think I can. And I emailed the Point people for support, and they told me (in an automated message) that they are devoted to Groupon right now and can’t help ppl with their Point campaigns. The automated email said they are still cutting checks for completed campaigns, just that they can’t spare personnel to field customer service inquiries for The Point.

      • J. W. says:

How unfortunate. Thanks for trying, though.

  3. Daniel Kuehn says:

    Dude you’re getting hammered. Sorry.

I wonder if it would have turned out better if the Paul v. Paul thing didn’t happen. That was pretty embarrassing and probably pissed a lot of people off.

    • Bob Murphy says:

I appreciate your concern, Daniel, but have you read the comments in my “Truth About Robert Reich” YouTube? I doubt there is anything new here. And the question was at the top of the list in the beginning, so we accomplished our limited objective.

      • Bob Murphy says:

Ha ha that thread is hilarious. (And Daniel, it’s nothing compared to what some of my fellow libertarians said about my shirtless video.) This is my favorite comment so far:

Krugman debating Murphy would, without a doubt, be the highlight of Murphy’s career, and is just a ploy to to try and sell his books.

I am just basking in the knowledge that there is a Krugman fan out there, who just suggested that I am slimy for pushing a debate for the purpose of selling books. It really doesn’t get any better than this.

        • Bharat says:

Hahaha, we don’t know any Keynesian economists who would ever do something as slimy as that!

        • Gene Callahan says:

He did not say or imply “slimy.”

          • Anonymous says:

You’re more obtuse than the warden at Shawshank.

Of course he implied Murphy was “slimy”. Pick whatever pejorative word you want you anal retentive yahoo.

          • Bob Murphy says:

Oh give me a break Gene, of course he implied it.

          • Ken B says:

Nor did I say or imply Callahan’s comment was obtuse.

          Wow. I just…I mean…I don’t even…how?

          I also liked this one:
“[…] [I]f I said I’d donate a million dollars to charity if you would spend the next week eating only dog feces, would you do it? And if not, WHAT KIND OF MONSTER ARE YOU?”
Apparently eating feces for an entire week is analogous to debating you ;-).

          • Bob Murphy says:

Or, if the guy he was challenging regularly ate dog feces to sell books and to promote his career, then the analogy would break down. The guy might be a monster.

    • Bob Roddis says:

It was pretty embarrassing for that monstrous liar Krugman and his mindless robot minions. At around 19:40 of this video, Krugman says that the assertion that the Fed caused the housing bubble is “the big lie”.

      http://www.bloomberg.com/video/91694137/

In October, 2006, Krugman said this:

Paul Krugman: “As Paul McCulley of PIMCO remarked when the tech boom crashed, GREENSPAN NEEDED TO CREATE A HOUSING BUBBLE TO REPLACE THE TECHNOLOGY BUBBLE. So within limits he may have done the right thing. But by late 2004 he should have seen the danger signs and warned against what was happening; such a warning could have taken the place of rising interest rates. He didn’t, and he left a terrible mess for Ben Bernanke.”
